Fly the Flag

'Fly the Flag' is a handmade artist’s book documenting a participatory art project which I facilitated as part of Climate Camp Ireland.

Climate Camp was held in a field beside the Shannon Estuary near Tarbert, Co Kerry, Ireland in August 2022. The purpose of the camp was to show resistance to the proposed Shannon LNG (liquefied natural gas) terminal nearby.

As part of the camp, I facilitated a flag-making workshop. Participants designed and painted large-scale flags that were then erected along the roadside boundary of the field. The collaboratively-made flags were a colourful display of resistance and they remained in place for three months after the Climate Camp.

This artist’s book contains 32 pages of original risograph prints with flag-shaped illustrations of the participants' flags.

I handbound a limited edition of 75 signed copies of this book. This artist’s book is available to buy from my publishing press Folded Leaf.
