My
degree show at the National College of Art & Design (Dublin,
2004) related the story of a dentist who practised in a remote
part of my native Co Mayo in the 1950s. Using stories and other
gathered material, I speculated as to what a day
in his life might have been like, and created a ‘mini-museum’ type
installation, culminating in a video installation piece that
attempted to re-enact a typical
day in his surgery.
